Description
For many years, Bill Cummings’ work boat Zaca was a familiar sight around Tilghman Island. Built in 1952 by Maynard Lowery, the wooden vessel faithfully served Cummings for 52 years. Zaca made one trip away from the Chesapeake Bay area when Bill took her to Tampa Bay, Florida to tong oysters. He lovingly spoke of his boat, “She took me down, and she brought me back.” Zaca was named for Errol Flynn’s famous yacht, Mrs. Cummings favorite actor.
Bill Cummings was also a self-trained painter. Many of his works can be viewed at the Watermen’s Museum in the form of giclee prints.
